【Vket Cloud】 UI improvements and new features available! Vket Cloud update summary

Vket Cloud and related services were updated in February 2024.
Apart from the contents of the VketCloudSDK, the world development kit for Vket Cloud, there are also many updates to the website and in-game UI, so we will explain them in a brief summarization!
Please see the article below for a summary of the VketCloudSDK updates.

🔶Updates for Vket Cloud in-world experience

🔶Changed the easing of movement speed
Simply put, the movement speed will accelerate slower when moving and decelerates slower when stopping. This is useful for taking photos, as it makes it easier to change the orientation when in TPS mode.

🔶 Improved camera behavior

  • When using TPS, objects in the foreground will become transparent
Rendering has been altered to make objects between the avatar and the camera transparent when in TPS mode. This is intended to reduce stress as the camera-object collision causing sudden zoom-in of camera will be avoided.
However, not all objects will be rendered transparent, as tall objects (such as walls) are excluded.

  • The maximum distance of the camera during TPS has been changed to 10m.
The default distance is 10m, which maximum and minimum distances can be adjusted via SDK editing.
This can be used to widen vicinity in beautiful scenery, or narrow the field of view in a horror world to create fear.

🔶Avatar's facial expressions can now be selected from the action palette
The "FACE" tag has been added to the action palette, now allowing to change the player avatar's facial expressions!
The facial expressions set in the VRM will be used.

🔶 Emote stamp will appear on above the avatar
The stamp of a played emote will now appear on above the avatar. The emote icons have been revised as well!
If the nameplate display is turned off, these emotes will not be shown. Turn on via settings to view the stamps shown!

🔶SSAO Support

Before: wall without SSAO enabled, After: wall with SSAO enabled
When SSAO is enabled, a shadow will appear on the corner of the wall, and a shadow will appear when Vketchan 01 approaches the wall.

By enabling "System > Realistic Shadows (SSAO)" in the settings window, additional shadows will be rendered if the world has SSAO implemented. Please refer to the manual for the setting instructions. If you're wondering "What is SSAO?", check the following:

Ambient occlusion is a phenomenon in which shadows appear when surrounding light (environmental light) is blocked in narrow spaces or corners of rooms where objects are close together. SSAO is a type of post-effect that applies post-processing to the rendering results of the 3D screen, and is added to the pseudo-rendering results.

🔶Added low resolution rendering
If world performance seems heavy, such as when framerate is low and lagged, the new low resolution rendering may work to solve the issue. This is especially useful
when accessing the world via smartphones and other mobile devices.
To enable, select "Low" from "Settings > System > Screen Resolution".

🔶 Moderation features
Event creators and world creators / team members (for Basic plan licenses and above) will be able to kick and ban other users in an event.
Users who are kicked will be placed in a single-player channel, but can reconnect to the event. Banned users will be placed in single-player channel, and will no longer be able to access the event.
For more information on how to use it, please refer to the article here👇.

🔶World description added to loading screen
World thumbnail and description will now be displayed on the loading screen.

🔶Replace user avatar to dummy when inactive
When a user using their My Avatar is inactive, their avatar will be changed to a dummy avatar.

🔶 "Create a World" button added
The "Create a World" button has been added to the bottom left of the settings, enabling access to the Vket Cloud website from here.

🔶Common dialogs
You can now use common dialogs that were available in the previous UI versions.
This can be used for description or pop-up confirmation with buttons to accept input.
By using HeliScript on the SDK, you can set various settings such as the number and size of buttons as well as text. Click here for the manual.

🔶Bug fixes & UX improvements

  • Loading time is reduced by reducing the weight of the UI
HUD images have been converted into atlases (merged multiple images into a single image), and nine slices (simply, neater scale-up and downs for images) have been implemented to reduce UI loading.

  • The slider handle on the settings screen has been improved.
It was a little hard to grasp previously, but it should be easier now!

🔶Vket Cloud website update

🔶 Images can be added to world description
Up to 4 images can now be saved, which only allowed a single image on previous versions. This can be used as a thumbnail to promote the world!
The images will be displayed on My Vket and other places.

🔶My page design change
The design of my page has been partially changed.

🔶 [Updates for Basic license plan and above]

🔷Published worlds can now be set not to be displayed as public on My Vket.

🔶 [Updates for Business license plan or above]

🔷User Registration (paid option)
This is a feature that allows the world creator to request user information from visitors on accessing the team's webpage and world. To put it simple, it is a feature for membership sign-ups.
By using this, exclusive worlds and webpages open only for the registered users can be created.
Team members can also view the visitors' entry history and notes for each user.
As this feature is a paid option, please contact us in advance to enable.

🔷Texts added to asset management feature
Asset type enabling text input has been newly added.
In future activities added in the Asset store, the input text can be used for displaying in the world such as  electronic signage and advertisement.
Note that as such activities are currently under development, this setting can be in practical use once the related activity rolls out.
